Will Gearey Swims to Gold


Year 9 student,  Will Gearey, has continued to build on his recent success in the swimming pool by winning five gold medals at the 2017 ASA West Midlands Swimming Championships held at Coventry.

Competing against the best swimmers from Birmingham, Coventry and Mercia in the boys’ 14-year age group, Will won the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 100m butterfly and 100m backstroke, adding silver in the 50m backstroke plus bronze medals in the 200m Individual Medley and 200m freestyle.  Achieving new personal bests in several of these events, he is currently second in the UK rankings within his age group for the 50m freestyle; fifth for the 100m freestyle, and tenth for the 50m butterfly.

Having already achieved some remarkable results, Will’s objective is to qualify for a number of events at the British Summer Championships which take place in July.
