Safeguarding Visit

On 17th February, I attended the all staff safeguarding training session led by an external consultant. It was an excellent update session reminding all staff of their responsibilities in the area of safeguarding, which is a key priority for all schools.

A few weeks later, I met with the Safeguarding Team which includes Mr Freeman, Mrs Barker and Mrs Thomas. They updated me on several new processes that the school have adopted to ensure further rigour in their paperwork to meet Ofsted requirements. This was the first session that we had met as a group and it was evident that the team have an excellent working relationship and offer each other much needed support. I look forward to meeting regularly with the team in the future.

On this occasion, I also reviewed the Single Central Record which is a register of pre-employment checks for all staff which requires 100% accuracy to meet with Ofsted requirements.  I was impressed with the work recently undertaken to ensure that the record has been updated to meet with recent changes that have been implemented by Ofsted.  The Single Central Record exists to ensure all safeguarding checks are undertaken as part of safer recruitment have been made on anyone coming into contact with pupils in a school setting.
